I have been on a strategy rpg kick lately and I can’t think of a better way to end that, than with a truly interesting role playing game like Operation Darkness. As a strategy rpg, set in WWII Europe, it stands in a class of its own, but the big question is, can the game stand on uniqueness alone??? Well, let’s find out!

  1. If nothing else, this game looks like it has charm. I think I'll check it out since I find the premise quite pleasing.

  2. I bought this game years ago…..never gotten to beat it. got to the final boss and it just nearly impossible to kill lol..IT just one weird game. I like it becuz it sorta like Valkyrie chronicle

  3. I don't usually do the strategy RPG thing, but I think you sold me on this one as soon as you said Nazi zombies. The concept sounds too cool to resist. Anyway, nice review, Jared!

  4. I have very little experience with SRPGs having only played a couple Fire Emblem games and Valkyria Chronicles, but something about this game looks very appealing to me that I might be willing to put up with its infuriating difficulty.

  5. Great review as always, my man! 😀 An alternate universe in WW2 with a Wolf pack going against Nazi Vampires, very interesting!!! 😀 I'll admit, while I like the premise and the retro look of the game, the main protagonist Edward does seem like a character I'll have to put up with rather than naturally grow to love, similar to Tidus from "FFX" who I'm a bit forgiving towards but why do these protagonists have to be so childish and whiny? XD The tactical combat mechanic looks VERY challenging, something I'm not a huge fan of as the Story always comes 1st and last for me, but I'll give it a chance. ^.^ Besides, I have a huge affinity for Wolves so this looks to be a game I'll at the very least enjoy. 😀

  6. Looks good to me shame its not on the ps3 or pc with all its faults the theme and genre would have me playing this all the time lol

  7. Great work as usual.

Here's a recommendation: Azure Dreams for the ps1. Dungeon crawler/town builder/ monster collection/ romance sim. I spent hours on this game, super tough deff give it a look.

  8. I've had this game now for over 6 years. It used to be dirt cheap on Amazon. I've only played a few minutes but it certainly looks like it is worth a run through. Just another game in the backlog right now. It's another one of the XBox 360 exclusives that got panned by PS3 RPG fans, but I think that a lot of that is about what you're looking for in your RPG games (I've loved lots of the 360 RPG exclusives). At least it's unique. That's probably what is so appealing about it.

  9. A WWII strategy RPG? You have my attention, my friend. 😉 That is definitely a unique combination to say the least! Vampires, werewolves, zombies, again, not something I'd see coming given the source material… Love it! The gameplay footage gives me an XCOM vibe, although I haven't played much of that series. I suppose the gun/long-ranged combat is what does it. It looks like this is a pretty cheap game to grab. I'll have to get it sometime soon. Great review! 🙂

  10. Yo this looks right up my alley. I love goofy Scifi stuff, and love Strategy RPG's even more. Definitely going to check this one out! Great find
