It happened…the red ring of death got the best of my Xbox 360. I was in the middle of rocking out with Rock Band 2 when everything suddenly froze. I just sat there, completely shocked at what had just happened. I knew it happened to some of my friends but I was hoping I would be able to escape it forever. I was so upset when it finally did happen, so I want to make sure it never happens to anyone else and this is why I want to share a few tips on how to steer clear of the Xbox 360 red ring of death.
First, I recommend you check the heat around the console. Systems like the Xbox 360 generate a lot of heat, and this can lead to the red ring of death. If you keep the console inside an entertainment center, make sure it has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating. Also, try not to pile your electronics on top of each other, such as DVD players or other game units, because they can all create heat and cause harm to your Xbox 360.
If the tips above don’t work in preventing the red ring of death from striking your Xbox 360, try the following tips before you send it in. Turn everything off and give it a chance to cool down, because overheating is the biggest issue. Unplug all your peripherals, such as cables and controllers, and then wait a while before plugging back in only the minimum peripherals you need to allow the console to function. After doing all that, turn it back on and check to see if the problem still exists.
Sending your Xbox 360 in for repairs usually has a month long turn around, so I hope these simple tips keep you from having to say goodbye to Rock Band.
